It’s the Christmas season, time to travel to see snow falling around us, Christmas trees around the world shining brightly, and mistletoes putting the lovebirds head over heels. But travelling…it’s quite the hot topic now. Because we’ve got to admit, this COVID-19 pandemic has set our travelling plans haywire.
Who’d have guessed that we’d ever be in such a situation whilst just months ago, travelling the globe was really just at the tip of our fingers. But did you really think that this has made our celebrities stay put? They’ve started a new staycation trend and we should really jump into it ourselves too – For the sake of keeping the Christmas spirit alive if anything!
So what is this Staycation trend really about anyway? Is it really worth the hype? 
Basically a staycation is a vacation right at your doorstep. In other words, it’s travelling domestically without crossing any borders. Often we find ourselves longing to get out of our country and hop from one place to the next in an exotic place. But sometimes, we are so blinded by the unknown, that we undermine what really is around us. How many of us have actually visited and appreciated all the attractions and places that loads of tourists are flying in to visit? I guess there are a few, if any, who have been able to raise their hands to this one. Don’t worry we hear you, but now’s the time to change this and enjoy a holiday in your own country or hometown.
If we just stopped to think for a second, I’m sure we’d find endless attractions or adventures that would be of interest to us to plan the perfect week or even just a day. It could be a family trip, a romantic getaway, a best buddies adventure or some time to spend alone. You might opt to visit heritage sites, natural beauties, a religious trip or maybe you might want to splurge on a shopping-spree trip and forget you even had a budget! Either way, there’s always somewhere to visit, something to do, and some scene to see.
This trend is becoming so popular that being a ‘staycationer’ is actually a thing in 2020. After all, travelling has been proven to reduce stress so a staycation right now is our answer from above! Social media such as Instagram and Facebook are being flooded with photos of food plates in restaurants, selfies near the seaside or a monument or shots of groups on a road trip. The great thing about it is that it’s budget friendly, less pollutive, prevents you being part of touristical chaos in queues and crowds and supports local economy. Being a tourist in your own country has been taken to the next level and we’re loving this hype!

They stayed at an accomodation owned by Prince Charles called the Dolphon house on a dreamy island called Tresco. With that many beaches around them, we’re sure they packed their swimsuits!
Amanda Holden, singer, actress, media personality and previous judge on Britain’s got talent has also stolen the staycation spotlight. She also chose Isles of Scilly as her holiday spot with her husband and 3 children. Her photos boasted breathtaking coasts and mouthwatering fish and chips. Another celebrity who’s got us jaw-dropping with her staycation photos is Stacey Solomon, singer and 3rd finalist of X factor!
